Toward the beginning of our journey together, Tira, Bash, and Peter found an ancient text that pointed them to the four Jewels of Edelenn, cities of learning that contained more information to help fight against a growing evil in the world of Vardalon.
The third Jewel was the city of Tuo Nue, a beautiful mountainside place located along the eastern ridges of Dao Huin. In an isolated monastery above the city, the friends learned more about the mysterious pillars through a holy chant called The Inner Light.
This special episode provides the text in a standalone format for easy reference. Here's the text:
Holy chant - The inner light
All light is divine
though some cleanse and purify.
Heed these words, my son.
In the high mountains
scents of lilac on warm winds
carry away woe.
Lying on my back,
long grass tickling at my cheek,
smooth stone underfoot.
A stream bubbles by;
sweet waters laughing and bright
fall in curtained mist.
From here I can see
the land of Dao Huin spread out,
a tapestry fine.
Across the gorges
to the north the pillar fine stands
in crystal splendor
It rises high; light
cuts dark, pushes back shadow
so it flees in shame.
Two more such I know,
great pillars standing proudly
though in distant lands:
The first was eastward
in islands warmed by the sun--
Kis-ra of the boats.
Far north the other,
Trun the inhospitable,
dark with ice and snow.
These all stood in light
like beacons in a great storm
that guide wand’rers home.
My heart grows cold
at thoughts of the dark pillars.
Let all learn from me!
One lay to the north
upon my travels there. The
mountains grew so cold!
An uncouth people
gave that sad land a sad name:
it was Wun-hai-de.
The other I found
in a place of thick jungles
and creeping creatures.
Here the pillar stood
deep in rank and clutching vines:
shrouded Mu-nu-ka.
I fled these places,
cold fear chasing at my heels,
ready to be home.
My lesson, my son:
Seek the light only, for dark
leads but to despair.
